Immerse yourself in the heart of the Mont Blanc massif on a 7-day trek where comfort meets nature. With mules carrying your bags, explore remote refuges like Bertone above Courmayeur, Elisabetta near Italian glaciers, and Bonhomme in France’s wild heights. Enjoy this unique experience with a light pack, letting you fully savor the stunning Alpine landscapes.
Follow in the footsteps of Horace-Bénédicte de Saussure on this iconic route. Crossing three countries, you’ll traverse high passes and panoramic trails, discovering blooming meadows, sparkling glaciers, and breathtaking views at every step.
Meet at 9:15 a.m. at the Chalet du Club Alpin in the village of Le Tour. We begin with a stunning ascent to the Col de Balme, offering spectacular views of iconic peaks such as Mont Blanc, the Aiguille Verte, Les Drus, and the Aiguilles de Chamonix. You will cross the French-Swiss border to reach La Forclaz, where you will spend the night.
The day begins with a climb to the Bovine alpine pastures, offering magnificent views of the Rhône Valley and the Oberland peaks in the background. The afternoon ends with a bus transfer to the peaceful village of La Fouly, nestled in the heart of the Swiss mountains.
We cross the Grand Col Ferret, one of the highest points of the trek, leaving Switzerland and entering Italy. The imposing and majestic Pré de Bar Glacier accompanies you to Rifugio Elena, where you will spend the night facing this spectacular glacial landscape.
A beautiful day in the Italian alpine meadows of La Saxe, with constant views of the impressive Grandes Jorasses and the Dent du Géant. You will arrive at Rifugio Bertone, perched high above Courmayeur, offering breathtaking views over the valley.
After passing through Courmayeur, where you can indulge in some Italian gelato, the hike continues through Val Veni, with incredible views of the Miage Glacier and Combal Lake. The ascent to Col Chécroui leads to Rifugio Elisabetta, surrounded by the majestic glaciers of Mont Blanc.
Today, you leave Italy via the Col de la Seigne, with its impressive rock formations and the Estelette Glacier. Back in France, you descend through the alpine meadows of Ville des Glaciers, the perfect spot to enjoy some Beaufort cheese. The stage ends with an ascent to the Col des Fours and the Col du Bonhomme.
On this final day, the descent takes you through the Beaufortain, often called the "Tyrol of the French Alps." The trail leads through the Contamines Montjoie Nature Reserve, following the ancient Roman road to Notre Dame de la Gorge. The trek ends around 2:00 p.m., with a return by taxi to the starting point or the nearest train station.
