The Tour du Queyras invites you to immerse yourself in the wild Alps, between the Italian Piedmont and the Queyras Regional Nature Park. This unspoilt area, far from the crowds, reveals a variety of landscapes: green mountain pastures, larch forests and arid ridges, dotted with authentic villages such as Saint-Véran, one of the highest in Europe.
This trek takes you through hidden valleys, crystal-clear mountain lakes and panoramic mountain passes, with breathtaking views of the Écrins and Mont Viso. Each stage combines encounters with wildlife, breathtaking panoramas, offering a breath of fresh air and a timeless experience.
On this first day, you will take the old mule track over the Col de Péas, once used to link Escarton to Briançon. The descent offers sublime panoramic views of the southern slopes, punctuated by the remains of a steppe zone. You will finally reach Ville Vieille, where you can discover the Queyras local craft workshops.
From Ville Vieille towards the Pré Fromage pass, then passing through the Fromage pass itself. From the heights, the Ceillac valley gradually unfolds. Hay meadows and cultivated fields create a patchwork of green hues surrounding the village. You are here on the last verdant foothills of the Queyras, bordering the wild Ubaye valley.
After leaving Ceillac, you climb up to the Col de l'Estrongue, with the peaks of the Queyras as a backdrop. Along the way, you will discover the Saint Véran valley, the highest inhabited village in Europe, where the wooden houses seem to touch the stars. Alpine pastures and rhododendrons intermingle in the larch forest, offering a bucolic descent to the village.
You cross the hay meadows of Saint Véran towards the upper valley, marked by the Chapel of Clausis. The climb to the Col de Chamoussière transports you to an exceptional alpine setting. The Agnel refuge, nestled beneath the majestic Pain de Sucre, will be your haven of rest for the night.
A spectacular descent awaits you beneath the imposing slabs of La Taillante. You will walk alongside. the magnificent Egorgéou lakes, perfect for a meditative break in this idyllic setting before reaching Ristolas.
The hike begins with an ascent through ancient terraced fields, abandoned but still visible in the landscape. You will cross the larch forest before reaching the Gilly ridges, where the view is breathtaking. The descent to Abriès, lined with calvaries, ends the day in an atmosphere of mountain serenity.
On this final day, from Abriès, you follow a historic path leading to the abandoned hamlet of Malrif. You will then continue climbing to Lake Malrif, with an extraordinary panorama of the entire Queyras region. After crossing the pass, the descent takes you to the Gîte des Fonts.
