This crossing of la Vanoise is a captivating adventure for nature lovers, offering breathtaking panoramic views of the wild and varied landscapes of the Vanoise. This 7-days tour takes you through mountain pastures, glaciers and picturesque villages in the heart of France's first national park, neighbouring Italy's Gran Paradiso National Park.
On balcony trails, you can admire the Maurienne Valley, the surrounding peaks, and the Esseillon forts. As you pass through iconic locations such as the Cirque des Évettes and the Plan du Lac refuge, you will be immersed in unspoilt nature, and you'll certainly meet ibex and marmots in an enchanting setting.
Your adventure begins in Modane, where you start the climb through a magnificent forest, heading towards the Polset mountain pasture. This first day already offers a glimpse of the majestic landscapes with a balcony trail overlooking the Maurienne valley. Breathe in the fresh air and let yourself be amazed by the panoramic views.
Continue along a superb balcony trail with breathtaking views of the valley and the Esseillon forts. Passing through the Col du Barbier, a place where ibexes like to gather, you will reach the spectacular lakes of Plan d'Amont and Plan d'Aval, at the foot of the imposing Dent Parrachée. A day rich in landscape diversity.
On this day, prepare to be blown away by the Turna mountain pasture and a Titanic landscape made up of scree slopes and rock fields. A magical atmosphere that marks one of the most impressive stages of the trek. We descend to finish in the village of Termignon.
A day during which glaciers, green alpine meadows and scree slopes will offer you a magical scene. The landscapes of the Vanoise, so beautifully captured in Samivel's watercolours, accompany you throughout this stage.
A balcony trail above the Termignon mountain pastures takes you beneath the Pointe du Grand Vallon. You will pass through varied landscapes, between mountain pastures and pine forests, where marmots and ibex are faithful companions.
The descent takes you through the Mollard mountain pastures to the village of Bessans, famous for its carved devil. This is an opportunity to discover Baroque art in Maurienne, before reaching Bonneval-sur-Arc, one of the most beautiful villages in France, nestled in the heart of the mountains.
Last day but not least! The climb to the Cirque des Évettes offers unforgettable views of the glaciers and surrounding mountains. You will then descend via the hamlet of L'Écot, a magical place where time seems to have stood still.
