Discover the Grand Paradiso National Park, a gem in Italy’s Aosta Valley and a haven for wildlife like chamois, ibex, marmots, and eagles. This trek takes you through glacial valleys, high-altitude lakes, and rugged peaks, offering breathtaking views of the Italian Alps.
End each day in welcoming mountain refuges, where rustic charm meets delicious local cuisine. For an extra challenge, conclude your adventure with an ascent of the Grand Paradiso summit (4,061 m) for unforgettable panoramic views.
Arrive in the charming valley of Valgrisenche. Check-in, dinner, and overnight stay at the hotel. Your first evening introduces you to the Italian mountain atmosphere and prepares you for the adventure ahead.
Leaving Valgrisenche, you’ll pass through larch forests and alpine meadows, with pristine peaks like the Bec de Pré d'Amont and Bec de Laugier towering above. The path gradually ascends, offering stunning views of the surrounding glaciers. Arriving at Rifugio de l'Épée at 2,370 m, you’re greeted with an authentic and warm atmosphere.
Today’s route crosses under the impressive face of Grande Rousse, an iconic mountain in the region. Along the way, enjoy the grasslands where the prized alpine herb, genepi, grows. With the Platte des Chamois and the imposing Grande Sassière (3,747 m) as your backdrop, you’ll enter the serene Bezzi Valley and reach Rifugio Bezzi, nestled at 2,284 m.
Leaving Valgrisenche, you’ll cross the Bassac Déré Pass (3,082 m) and enter the Val de Rhêmes, a jewel of the Grand Paradiso National Park. Keep an eye out for marmots, ptarmigans, and ibex, which often make appearances here. Rifugio Benevollo awaits in a stunning setting surrounded by pastures and alpine streams.
Today brings an unforgettable view of the majestic Grand Paradiso summit. Descend past the clear waters of Lakes Leita and Rosset through extraordinary landscapes of glaciers and alpine meadows. In the evening, enjoy a taste of “grolla,” a warm Italian refuge tradition.
On this final day, cross the Petit Nivolet Valley, a haven for nature and alpine wildlife lovers. The Grand Paradiso, Ciarforon, and Tresenta peaks stand proudly, embodying the rich legacy of Italian mountaineering. You’ll descend to Pont, where this beautiful journey through one of Europe’s most stunning natural parks concludes.
